A Mental Health Organization Built Around the People It Serves
Aspirant Wellness Solution LLC was founded in 2024 by Robert Maina, whose motivation came directly from clinical experience. Seeing the same patients readmitted repeatedly because there was no structured support during the transition from crisis to community life made the gap obvious. AWS was built to fill that gap.
We provide comprehensive outpatient behavioral health services to children, adolescents, and adults ages six and up across the Portland metropolitan area. Our clients come from a wide range of backgrounds and we serve many who have not found culturally responsive care elsewhere. We hold certifications including a PMHNP certificate, ANCC certificate, DEA certificate, and a certificate of inclusive care.
Why Aspirant Wellness Solution Exists
Robert Maina founded Aspirant Wellness Solution in 2024 after witnessing something that troubled him repeatedly in clinical settings: patients in crisis being stabilized, discharged, and then returning weeks later in the same condition. The revolving door was not happening because people did not want to get better. It was happening because the structured support that helps people hold onto the progress they make in treatment was not there when they left.
The vision for AWS came out of that observation. A place that does not just stabilize people during a crisis but actually helps them build the skills, relationships, and self-understanding they need to stay stable in their community. Treatment focused on behavioral change, yes, but also on cultural identity, family connection, and a person’s own sense of who they are and what they are capable of.
“Seeing the same patients readmitted every 4 to 6 weeks because no one provided structured support during the transition home. That was what needed to change.”
Compassionate, Structured Outpatient Care That Empowers Recovery
“To provide structured, compassionate, and accessible outpatient care that stabilises acute mental health symptoms, prevents hospitalisation, and empowers individuals to rebuild their daily lives. Through evidence-based therapy, life skills training, and community support, we help clients transition from crisis to sustainable recovery while maintaining their work, school, and family responsibilities.”
Self-Understanding
We help clients develop a clear, honest picture of who they are, where they come from, and what they are capable of.
Mutual Respect
We work with every client and family with equal dignity, regardless of background, history, or presenting problem.
Personal Responsibility
We believe growth happens when individuals and families are active participants in their own treatment, not passive recipients.
Family and Community
Family is central to treatment at AWS. We involve families in care and connect clients to their broader community throughout the process.
Cultural Identity
We believe that a person's cultural background is a strength. Our services are designed around that belief, not despite it.
Faith in Recovery
We approach every client with genuine belief in their ability to overcome what they are facing and build a different life.
How Aspirant Wellness Solution Is Different From Other Portland Providers
Culturally Responsive by Design
Our model is built around the actual cultural identities of the people we serve, not adapted after the fact. Latino, African American, Asian, and other communities have specific cultural values, family structures, and histories.
Multi-Systemic Approach
We use cognitive behavioral, insight-oriented, and multi-systemic approaches because individuals do not exist in isolation. How someone understands their environment, their social group, and their family is central to how they change.
Holistic Treatment Approach
Unlike programs that focus only on symptom management, AWS addresses the full picture: individual therapy, family involvement, drug and alcohol counseling, cultural enrichment, life skills, and community connection.
Prevention Over Revolving Door
AWS was founded specifically to break the cycle of repeated crisis admissions. We focus on building the skills, relationships, and community connections that help people maintain stability.

Why Cultural Identity Is Central to Our Care, Not Optional
Mental health is not experienced the same way across all cultures, and mental health treatment should not be delivered as if it is. At Aspirant Wellness Solution we have built our program around the recognition that cultural identity, family structure, spiritual values, and community belonging are genuine factors in mental health and genuine factors in recovery.
Our cultural enrichment program runs twice weekly and covers topics ranging from history and spirituality to community participation and cultural arts. Clients engage with the cultural traditions of their own communities and develop a stronger sense of identity.
Cultural Enrichment Programming Includes:
- Art, Literature & Music (Latino & African American focuses)
- Poetry Reading & Writing for creative expression
- Community Connections & Safety in Portland
- Identity Reflection & Building Groups
- Festivals, Plays & Concerts participation
